2nd Grade Field Trip

Brady's class field trip was this week.  It was a tough one for me...the first of his field trips that I haven't chaperoned!

Ru and jingle

Rudy insisted that James take this picture, and then that he add the edits as well.

KG field trip pictures

Both boys went on field trips to a local park this year.  My name wasn't drawn to go on Brady's trip; it was the first field trip I didn't chaperone!

I did get to go with Rudy's class though.  He was thrilled that I was there AND that Mary Emma was in our group.

I brought along little notebooks so the kids could draw pictures of what they saw during the day:

We got to see two black bears, one pacing and one swimming around his algae covered pond...
Rudy, Mary Emma, and Jumisha:

The park is not my favorite field trip destination, but there were some great places for pictures!

At the stepping stones...(no one fell in, thankfully!)

Feeding the fish:

Rudy crashes and burns...His excitement lasted just until lunchtime, when he started not feeling well.
Rudy ran a fever of right around 100 all evening.  He stayed home the next day from school, but was finally better 2 days later.

Exhausted!

When we took this picture Monday night at dinner, we though it was just a sign of a great Memorial Day weekend.  After Rudy's rough day on his field trip, though, we realized it was probably more of an indication that he wasn't feeling 100%.

Edison presentation

Brady made it into the talented and gifted newsletter for his elementary school!  He worked on this PowerPoint presentation at school for weeks and loved being able to tell us all about Thomas Edison.  We even pulled the slides off the network so he could present it to us at home!

Share Bears

Rudy was super excited for his KG musical.  They've been practicing for months and he couldn't wait for his debut as a "buzzy bee!"  Of course, the whole night was even better because he got to be beside Mary Emma!

White Rock Falls

We went on a great hike at White Rock Falls for Mothers' Day.  It was a little overcast, but the temperature was great and we were about the only ones on the trail.  We all loved the rocks to climb on around the falls!

Mothers' Day flowers

Brady picked out this craft and designed these flowers for the grandmothers last week.  They turned out really cool, I thought, and he was quite proud of them.

PB, P, & J

Rudy has been begging to pack his lunch for the past few weeks.  He moves so inefficiently in the mornings, though, that he's never had time.  Finally, last week he asked me to wake him up extra early so he could make a sandwich.  His creation?

Peanut butter, pepperoni, and (peach) jelly.

EW.  I thought for sure that sandwich would come back home in his lunch.

It didn't.  He's made two more since then!

Get to work!

Jacob and Logan came over after school last week.  I had a lot to get done to get ready for the First Communion party, so I put them to work.  I got my whole front porch scrubbed down for $8 + a trip to SweetFrog!

New pet?

Rudy was helping me in the garden when we found this creature.  I don't think the lizard was quite awake from his winter sleep since he was moving quite slowly!

Mutant flower

Check out this flower in our garden!  Three of the stems fused together into one flower.

First fish of the season!

Brady got to go fishing with Jacob at a recent sleepover and caught his first fish of 2012!

Swings!

I can't look!

It's hard to tell, since it's so hard to take good pictures of Charlie, but she's resting in her favorite spot on the ottoman in the front window with her paws over her eyes! :)

Sleepover

Lila was so excited to have a sleepover in a big girl bed with Brady and Rudy!!  The boys were both so exhausted that they fell asleep almost immediately after stories and lights out.  Lila was going strong for at least another half hour, though - singing, and playing with the animals.
