Art Festival

Arts Festival is a pretty amazing event put on by the local school system.  The art teachers choose a theme and carry it through in major decorations at the event; there are also individual pieces of artwork hung throughout the building and a wide variety of crafts.

We've never tried the pottery wheel before because the lines tend to be too long.  We were at the school early this year, because Brady's chorus was performing early, so we got a jump on the crowds.

With the village created entirely by students at their elementary school:

Polydactyl

I flipped through Brady's word study notebook when I was in his classroom to volunteer.  Got a chuckle out of this entry; he speaks the truth...

Jingle and Bell

These kitties were so happy to get back home, where they have room to run and play and windows to watch the birds, and familiar places for catnaps and sunbathing.

Bike gang

First hints of spring and a day warm enough for a bike ride!  We gathered up some of the neighborhood kids for a ride up to the playground.  Candy always calls me Mother Goose, and I definitely felt like it today, with my goslings trailing behind me.

Cook out

We took advantage of an almost-spring-like day for a backyard campout.  We were all itching to get outside after the cold winter days!

Duck Donuts!

We made a stop at Duck Donuts before hitting the "Nanodays" at the university.  Love that we have friends that equally appreciate both a morning sugar rush and nerd time.

For Sale

It's hard to believe that, after years of talking about it and three months of major reconstruction, we are listing the house for sale.  Of course, now that it looks nearly brand new we are kind of love with the house again.  We keep saying that it would be perfect, if we could only pick it up and move it 15 miles west.

In any case, we're pretty proud of how great it looks at this particular moment...now just to maintain it until it sells...

Pi day

We celebrated Pi day with apple pie and ice cream.  Of course, we had to have a lesson about pi with some circle measurements...

Odyssey of the Mind

Brady decided to give Odyssey of the Mind another try this year, and he really enjoyed it.  It helped that his coaches were extremely well organized and worked really hard to keep the kids on task and on schedule.  It also helped that this group of kids has known each other for years; they are each very creative team players, and they worked amazingly well together.  They finished in second place overall for the competition, but were the top scorers for their "long term" problem (see the video below!).
