Today was the big day! We've been looking forward to this cruise for months! We embarked in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday afternoon, to start a 7 day adventure on the Nieuw Amsterdam.
There was no danger of starving on this cruise. There was food available all the time (literally) - room service, cafeteria, dining room, pool grills...the kids even dared to try some crazy new foods: Thai, Indian, and even escargot!
Big smiles from Lila at lunch:
Still in port - looking out the back of the ship:
Checking out the basketball court:
Ready for dinner. For the dining room, the boys had to have slacks and collared shirts (except on formal nights, when it was coat and tie!).
Oma had a giant bag of tricks, with a new toy every night for dinner...
In the art gallery. The boys thought these chairs and the table, made from bicycle wheels, were pretty cool!
The atrium. The chandelier is the New York skyline, complete with the Statue of Liberty!
Lila, absconding with my purse:
Brady's first chess game. He almost beat James!
Dessert #2: hot chocolate, brownies, and ice cream:
