Point Loma & Tide Pools

After LegoLand yesterday and the Safari Park tomorrow, we decided to slow down a bit today. The kids did some homework and reading and then we headed over to Point Loma.

From the top of point, looking past the Cabrillo monument toward Mexico:

Facing back up to the old lighthouse:

We checked in with the rangers to pick up the Junior Ranger packet and then drove down to the beach. We timed our tide pool adventure much better than our effort in Seattle and hit the shore as the tide was headed out.

Rudy checking out an anemone:

Oops...Brady forgot his camera and went back to get it...see them way up there?

And there are Rudy and I down at the shore:

We saw so many cool sea creatures! Anemones...

Knobby sea stars:

Crabs:

Icky keyhole limpets:

Shore birds:

Lobster:

It was a beautiful day for exploring! We also saw, but didn't photograph, a red abalone, brittle sea star, and pelicans.

Goof balls...

Statue of Liberty?!?

Check out the arch we're standing on! Yikes! (I was really hoping this wasn't going to be the moment of the next big CA earthquake!)

Back at the top, overlooking San Diego harbor:

In the lighthouse:
