Spring break 2016: Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Rudy finished reading the Harry Potter series and we had no specific plans for spring break...so it seemed like the perfect time to plan a trip to Universal Studios.  Similar to our Disney trip, we decided to stay on-property to get all of the perks that come along with that location.  The biggest perk by far was the early admission, but ... more on that in the post about the parks!

The Cabana Bay was a super-cool hotel.  James and I both felt like were walking around a Mad Men set.  Every detail was themed like a 1950s roadside motel.  The location was great - we could walk about 20 minutes to the parks, or take the uber-convenient buses, which actually ran frequently (as opposed to those at WDW!).

 

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a family suite, which meant that we got a pull-out couch for one kid to sleep on.  The family suite also had a kitchenette, which we used to store our dinner leftovers for some unique breakfasts!

We also loved our pool-view room and the lazy river and the pools!  We stayed in the Continental building (top left) and had views of the lazy river and one of the pools.  The other pool had a water slide and a (decorative) dive tower. 

Hanging at the pools was definitely the most 'vacation-y' part of the trip.  We were on-the-go when we were in the parks, so it was nice that we had lots of extra time built into this trip to just chill out in the warm Florida sun!
