Cookies, crafts, & Christmas fun

We are definitely in the swing of the Christmas season! We rushed home the Friday after Thanksgiving to start the decorating and haven't slowed much since.

Oma and Papa came up to watch Brady's soccer tournament and helped out with some holiday crafts:

We started baking and decorating cookies last night:

Second grade diorama

Brady was so excited when he got off the bus on the day this project was assigned! It was his first real school project: to create a Native American diorama. He chose the Pueblo Indians. The crowning piece was the adobe hut (lego core covered with a mixture of red clay and school glue). He also included:

  • background image of the high flat lands.
  • footprints, because their main form of transportation was walking.
  • corn by the river irrigation
  • deer and rabbits
  • cactus

Post-Thanksgiving Bike Ride

We had to work off some of the turkey-day carbs! It was a really nice day and the kids worked hard, especially Rudy on his tiny little bike. We rode just over 8 miles!

Thanksgiving day fun

We didn't leave the house on Thanksgiving, but kept ourselves very busy waiting for the big meal!

Skate Park

One of my birthday presents was an outing to the shooting range with my dad. Everyone went all in for a day of adventure and the boys went to the skate/bike park while Dad and I were gone. It looks like they tried out all their mad skills!

Birthday Presents for Mom

We celebrated my birthday a day early so Brian's family could be there too.

I'll bet you've never had a birthday apple before...

KG Field Trip

I was *lucky* enough to chaperone Rudy's kindergarten field trip to the kids' museum. I had a great bunch of kids to supervise, so we had a lot of fun.

In the art room:

At the auto shop...we spent a loong time here!

Teddy Time

We were so happy to get to babysit Teddy while Brian and Rebecca went to a friend's wedding. Teddy is the happiest, most laid back little man! He is full of smiles!

Go 'Hoos?

We found ourselves cheering for UVA at the football game this weekend, but only because they weren't playing W&M! Of course, UVA was the only team we rooted for that actually got a win (no such luck for W&M or PSU this weekend).

The boys loved tailgating with their buddies before the game:

Two Front Teeth

Rudy lost his first tooth at school on Friday. I happened to be volunteering in Brady class and had a few minutes free, so I walked Rudy's class to resource. On the way, his tooth just "fell out into [his] hand!" The tooth fairy brought him a gold dollar and a Crayola coloring pack.

Today, his other bottom tooth fell out while running errands with James.

We're going to Great Wolf?!

Brady and Rudy werepretty excited when Oma and Papa told them they were taking them to Great Wolf Lodge!

Quarters

Nana put together these quarter books for the boys, completely full with a set of the new quarters.

(Rudy sure looks excited!)
