Birthday Party, Part 1

Rudy turned four yesterday and had a birthday party with "only family. And Reagan and Ben." (Because, they are kind of family also, apparently!). He wanted a race track cake, and this is what we came up with:

Exhaustion

We spent the afternoon at the pool today and sent Rudy upstairs to change his clothes when we got home. After a long period of quiet, this is what we found:

He fell asleep on the floor, naked with his blanket. At some point, he got cold, woke up to put socks on, and went back to sleep (still naked!)

Rock Climbers

After the kite festival, the boys each tried the rock wall. Brady has done it before, but I was surprised that Cooper wanted to try it. Once those two tried it and got stickers, Rudy decided he'd do it too.

Flag Day Bike Race

Some of the neighborhood kids organized a Flag Day bike race and parade. The kids decorated their bikes and rode through the neighborhood. It was blazing hot, but Brady stuck it out for the 'long' race. I gave Rudy a bit of a lift...

Beach Day

We spent two afternoons at the beach over the weekend. The weather and the water were both perfect. Brady did some real boogie boarding with James, but we also got Rudy to do ride the board around on the water's edge. He liked it, until he'd fall off and get all wet.

Kite Festival

We were in the Outer Banks for the kite festival over the weekend. Brady tried the kite race, where he had to race across the dune with this mini-parachute. He looked exhausted when he finished!
