Breakfast of Champions

Sourdough toast, blackberries, strawberries, and a dill pickle.  What's not to like?

Painting with Grandma

Whenever Grandma is in town, you know there will be some painting.  She loves sharing what she knows, and this visit's project was painting plastic Easter eggs.

Ice Skating

We took the kids ice skating on Sunday afternoon.  It's been a long time since Brady was on skates, so I think he was surprised at how hard it was for him.  Especially when 4-year-old Lila kept speeding by him!  She's amazingly fast and completely fearless; she wore us all out!

James, Brady, Rudy, Lila, and I were the only skaters.  Grandma, Teddy, Brian, Rebecca, Oma, and Papa were all happy to watch.

Bowling

Doesn't every 93 year old you know go bowling?  And, bowl a not-too-shabby score of 85?  This lady amazes me, and I sure hope I've inherited some of her good genes!

Rainbow loom

Grandma got a one-on-one rainbow loom lesson from Brady, and I think she is going home with at least a few bracelets!

"Cooking"

Rudy volunteered to make the mac-n-cheese (one of our go-to meals when James is out of town) for dinner.  He disappeared into the kitchen.  After 10 minutes, I hadn't heard any cooking noises so I went in to check on him.  He'd opened the box and gotten distracted by cutting out a letter R from the packaging.

Priorities, people.

Rock climbing

I've never been rock climbing, but I love a good rock scramble when we go hiking so I was excited to try it.  The kids have tried the mobile walls at the beach, but had never been to a gym.  The gym was too booked to give us lessons on the belay ropes, but we were able to free climb "as high as we felt safe."  With Brady, his comfort zone was higher than ours!

We all loved it.  It was fun to go as high as we felt comfortable and then work our way horizontally across the walls.   Brady is at an age where he seems to be perfectly suited for climbing - long limbs and low body weight; he was really like a monkey!  Rudy is more cautious in activities like this and was happy just being a few feet off the ground
