Day 5: Deception Pass

Today, it was back to the United States. We took the scenic route (on purpose; we weren't lost) and stopped at Deception Pass on Whidbey Island. We'd picked up lunch at the grocery store earlier, so we had a picnic on the island in the middle of the bridge.

After lunch, it was down to the boat dock for a jet boat ride under and around the bridge. Check out the sky - can you believe this is the rainy season in the Seattle area?

There is an old prison up on the hill here. They used to keep prisoners there 24/7 to work in the mines.

Brady and James won the trivia question and a free ice cream on the boat, so we had to drive back to the office for that. On the way, we saw this bald eagle while crossing the bridge:

And, how fun is this picture?

It wasn't dark, but this shot sure looks great!

We got the enormous (for real - easily it was 6 scoops of ice cream) cones before heading to the conference hotel for the week.
