More handsome Christmas pictures

Some goofy, some cute…but all good pictures !

(and we still haven't figured out how to get a good picture of Charlie.)

Santa Train, year FOUR!

On Saturday, we had our fourth annual ride on the Santa Train with Cindy, Andy, and the kids. It’s become quite the little tradition and the kids get so excited about riding the train, seeing Santa, AND getting a candy cane J It’s only a 45 minute ride on the train, but that doesn’t seem to bother them.

Both kids were very friendly with Santa and not at all afraid. They were both also very specific with their wish list item – a green easy bake oven (Brady) and a metal Blue Angel (Rudy).

Love this picture. Love. it. Makes me smile every time I look at it!

A little excited...a little nervous!

Watching Santa board the train:

Bella and Brady with the big man himself:

Quite proud of themselves after talking to Santa:

Rudy taking his turn:

Waving goodbye...

And, a little look back at years 1, 2, and 3:

Revised Christmas song

We were singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town at breakfast yesterday. The kids don't really know the words, so they were just mumbling along with me. At the end, Brady said, "There should be more."

K: Like what?

B: Like [in the tune of the song] 'you shouldn't have to be told seven times.'

He's right...we may have to revise that song!

We had the Christmas lunch at Brady's school on Thursday. He was THRILLED that James was able to make it!

When did he get so grown up??

Getting Old

From James:

Out of the blue last night Rudy asked me, “Do you want to stop getting old?” Having been limping around on a swollen knee for 5 days, I told him, “Yes, I would like to stop getting old.” Rudy said, “Me, too. I want to be 3.” I told him if he stayed 3, he’d miss out on all the fun stuff there was to do when he was 4 or 5, like Brady can do. Thinking about Brady being 5 seemed to convince him that 5 would be OK, but he still wasn’t very excited about 4.

Brady wanted to know what age he should stop getting old. “Maybe 9 or 10?”, he suggested. He threw out a few more ideas – 19,30 – and we finally settled on maybe 24 or 25 as a good age to stop getting old. I’m not sure Rudy was convinced.

Look alikes

I'm working on a picture project for my grandmother and came across these pictures of my dad as a child. I had never seen much resemblance between my kids and other family members, but I sure thought that one of my kids is the spitting image of my dad in these pictures.

Of course, then I showed the pictures to Cindy and she thought the other kid was the look alike!

So, which one is it?!?

Snow day

It started snowing around 9:30 this morning and has accumulated just enough to start to play in. It's rained for several hours before snowing, so it's a slushy mess out there. That didn't stop the boys from begging to go outside!

We held them off for as long as possible, hoping it would get a little colder and not be as wet. We finally went out after lunch for a small snowball fight and snowman building. It was even too wet to sled :(

All bundled up and ready to go:

Build and Grow

We went to Lowes today for the build and grow workshop. The boys got to build wood "gingerbread" houses. Before we left, it had just started to snow so we had a small snowball fight in the parking lot afterwards!

Trim up the tree...

Trim up the tree with Christmas stuff
Like bingle balls, and whofoo fluff
Trim up the town with goowho gums and bizilbix and wums
Trim every blessed window and trim every blessed door
Hang up whoboohoo bricks
Then run out and get some more!

Hang pantookas on the ceilings
Pile pankunas on the floor
Trim every blessed needle on the blessed Christmas tree
Christmas comes tomorrow
Trim you, trim me!

Trim up your pets with fuzzle fuzz
And whiffer bloofs, and wuzzle wuzz
Trim up your uncle and your aunt
With yards of whofut flant
Trim every house in Whoville from the cellar to the roof
Hang up a mile of dafflers
And three miles of snaffer snoof!
Hang dang-donglers on the bathtub
Trim the occupant the with floof
To every home in Whoville and to every blessed Who
Christmas comes tomorrow
Trim me, trim you!

Trim up the tree with Christmas stuff
Like bingle balls, and whofoo fluff
Trim up the town with goowho gums
And bizilbix and wums...
Trim up the tree with bizilbix and wums!

I dare you to learn those lyrics :)

Gratitude

I made a pot roast for dinner last night. Apparently Rudy wasn't impressed. Both kids are very good about thanking the cook after eating, so this is what I got from Rudy last night:

Thank you for the yucky stuff, Mommy.

Twice times

Rudy: When Charlie grows up, will we call her a boy?
J: No, Charlie is a girl and she’ll always be a girl. When you grow up, will you still be a boy?
Rudy: No.
J: Really, what will you be?
Rudy: An animal saver.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Rudy, after have to ask more than once for something in the car: I don’t have to tell you twice times!

Veep

B (reading the Blockbuster disk): John....Adams. When will he be president?
J: No, this was a long time ago. Do you remember who the first president was?
B: No.
J: George...
B: Washington!
J: Right. George Washington was our first president and John Adams was our second president.
B: Oh.
J: Actually, John Adams was our first vice president.
B: What's that?
J: Well, if something happens to the president, if he gets sick or dies while he is president, then the vice president becomes the president right away so we don't have to wait to pick a new one.
B: Are you OK with that?
