Jamaica, Day 2

We started off day 2 with high hopes and a hearty breakfast.  Breakfast was one of the many highlights at the Hilton Rose Hall.  Tons of fresh fruit, amazing french toast, and an omelet station.  James had an omelet every day.  I had french toast every day.  I even tried ackee and saltfish, and didn't die.  (Ackee can be poisonous if not prepared correctly.  My two cents is that it's not worth the risk as I didn't find it very tasty.  And we ate SO MUCH FRUIT.

We're big fruit eaters at home and are pretty familiar with a wide variety, but we'd never seen passionfruit.  Thankfully, the resort labels all of the food so we knew what we were serving ourselves.  We didn't know what to expect, but the boys and I were hooked on this tart delicacy from the first bite.  If it wasn't out, we'd ask and get a special serving from the kitchen.  So sour, but so delicious!

The day started off cloudy, but at least it wasn't pouring. We spent some time at the beach, playing in the sand and the waves.

I had a lot of fun making them hold still for a picture and then waiting for the waves to crash into them.  The joys of parenting...

There was a jetty with a little boardwalk that ran down one side of the water.   We wandered out there to explore around the rocks.  It was breezy and the water was choppy, so we didn't find much besides those trilobite-looking creatures that live on the rocks.  Check out the menacing clouds in all these pictures!

We did take a quick dip in the hot tub, but finally hunger got the best of us.

The weather was not really cooperating with our pool and beach plans anyway.  With the clouds and the breeze and the sporadic rain, we decided to clean up, have lunch, and find other activities for the afternoon.  (At the time, we optimistically hoped that it would only be for THIS particular afternoon...)

Trying our hand at shuffleboard.  We got a lot better with all our practice during the week!

And some corn hole.  Speaking for myself at least, all the practice during the week didn't help me much with this game.

We had our first night of evening dinner reservations, this time at the Italian themed restaurant.  This one was probably our favorite restaurant choice.

As per tradition on vacation, Rudy took a snooze at dinner:
