I don't remember the hike, but I came across this picture of our faithful hiking companion. She's pretty trustworthy off the leash; she'll trot up the trail 30 paces and wait patiently for us to catch up or come sprinting back if called. If she gets too far ahead, I just make my all-purpose discipline sound (works for Charlie, cats, and children!) and she'll stop.
